111. Al-Masad

    بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍۢ وَتَبَّ

    May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.

    MÅTTE Abu Lahab förgås! Ja, måtte han [hel och hållen] förgås!

  2. 2

    مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ

    His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.

    Vad hjälper honom [nu] hans rikedomar och allt vad han har förvärvat

  3. 3

    سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًۭا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۢ

    He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

    Han skall brinna i en Eld som blossar högt,

  4. 4

    وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ

    And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood.

    och hans hustru, alltid på språng med illvilligt skvaller och förtal,

  5. 5

    فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌۭ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ

    Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber.

    skall bära ett tvinnat rep om sin hals.
