1. 1Check free disk space

   Xcode needs about 15 GB installed, and roughly 40 GB free while the .xip is downloaded and expanded.

   Run this in Terminal and read the “Avail” column.

   df -h /

   If you have less than 40 GB free, empty the Trash and remove old iOS simulators first.

   Mark done & continue
2. 2Pick the right Xcode version
3. 3Download the .xip (resumable)
4. 4Verify the download finished
5. 5Extract the archive
6. 6Move Xcode into /Applications
7. 7Point xcode-select at Xcode
8. 8Sign in and set your team
9. 9Run preflight, then publish
